Self Love #2

11:28:00 PM

Hello, all!

I'm back again with another post about how to love yourself. Not that I'm doing it the best way everyone should do it. But, what I've been doing has actually worked on me. So, I feel obligated to share how I actually do the magic.

This second topic is all about the musics. The only good song lyrics quotation I have ever found in life so far is from Stevie Wonder with his famous "Sir Duke." It goes something like this:
Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand.
Thanks a whole lot to my 4th grade music teacher (yes, back in the US in 2008), through him I found this amazing musician called Stevie Wonder and his mesmerizing lyrics.

Let's proceed to the actual point of this post, shall we?

THE MUSIC

Hold your horses, peeps! What I'm about to provide you with is an actual act of promoting my own account. Here is my Spotify account that is open for anyone of you to follow!

I have recently organized my playlists there. I'm more surprised to see that I'm such a softie at heart when it comes to music. The songs I listen to are either very romantic and cheesy or very pop. Some people might find those stuff a little too mainstream and not unique. But hey, good music is good music.

A bit about the playlists I show on my Spotify for the public to see...

H's Wedding Songs

This playlist is a set of songs that I would actually play during my wedding or the songs I would slow dance to with my future life partner. Most of it are old ones because somehow the older era got better romanticism than the present era. No offense to all the millenials, though. EDMs are also enjoyable, nonetheless. ((no, it isn't that good really, but I've gotta maintain the fairness and unbiased opinions))

The playlist contains 68 songs which would spend at least 4 and a half hours. So, my wedding would actually need to be longer than 8 hours and half of it would be filled with such cheesy song lists. ((sorry, future boo...)). These are the songs:
  • Marry Your Daughter - BRKN RBTZ
  • Perfect - Ed Sheeran
  • A Thousand Years - Christina Perri
  • Marry You - Bruno Mars
  • Everything - Michael Buble
  • Lucky - Jason Mraz
  • XO - John Mayer
  • Can't Help Falling in Love - Haley Reinhart version
  • I Was Made For Loving You - Tori Kelly
  • Wherever You Will Go - Charlene Soraia
  • You're Gonna Live Forever In me - John Mayer
  • Your Body Is a Wonderland - John Mayer
  • Gravity - John Mayer
You do love yourself some John Mayer, huh?
  • God Must Have Spent - Boyce Avenue version
  • This I Promise You - *NSYNC
  • Wonderwall - Boyce Avenue version
  • Begin Again - Taylor Swift
  • Little Things - One Direction ((yes, 1D is here. my inner fangirl is still alive and hopeful for a comeback))
  • Sweet Creature - Harry Styles
  • Kiss Me - Ed Sheeran
  • Photograph - Ed Sheeran
  • Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran
  • Tenerife Sea - Ed Sheeran
  • Dive - Ed Sheeran
Might as well include all his albums in your wedding. Or invite him as your wedding singer, perhaps? Maybe you'll marry a very rich man, you know...
  • Drunk in Love - Beyonce
  • Magic - Coldplay
  • True Love - Coldplay ((this song is just pure sweetness))
  • Halo - Beyonce
  • 1000x - Jarryd James ((thank you, PERFILMA FHUI for covering this number and introducing me to such good song))
  • I Like Me Better - Lauv (acoustic version)
  • Best part - H.E.R. feat. Daniel Caesar
  • Wanted - Hunter Hayes
  • Mirrors - Justin Timberlake
  • Human Nature - Boyz II Men version
  • I'll Make Love To You - Boyz II Men
  • You and Me - Lifehouse
  • I'll Be - Edwin McCain
And all the rest of playlist that will take up too much space in this post. So, go check it out yourself and you know, mix and match your own playlist with some of the songs I've included in mine.

Aside from this particular heartfelt set, I have been enjoying Scorpion, Drake's newest album. Yes, I am one of those who enjoy watching the #inmyfeelingschallenge in Twitter, Youtube, and even Instagram. The song is what actually gets me into listening the album. I have also found myself enjoying Post Malone and Kendrick. To be honest, this sudden change of musical genre is all due to too much time consumed in watching FBE Reacts Videos where the teens and college kids get excited over these artists. Plus, I still love Justin Bieber very much ((HE'S FREAKING ENGAGED, OMG! I KNOW! SO HAPPY FOR HIM!!!)) and he's friends with Post Malone. It's only alright that I get out from my comfort zone for a while and listen to his stuff. It turns out his works are amazing.

HANAN

This playlist is filled with completely random songs that I find so good to enjoy to. Some of them are also featured in the previous playlist. I can actually spend hours listening to this particular one, especially during final weeks. This playlist is also one of the many reason I end up failing my final exams, HAHAHA... The songs are just so catchy to sing along to.

These are some of my favorite songs that score positions in this playlist:
  • Lemonade - Jeremy Passion
  • When You Love Someone - James TW
  • Castle on The Hill - Ed Sheeran
  • Somewhere Only We Know - Keane
  • How to Save a Life - The Fray
  • The Only Exception - Paramore
  • Wings - Birdy
  • Almost Is Never Enough - Ariana Grande
  • If You Ever Want To Be In Love - James Bay
  • High Hopes - Kodaline
  • I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - Sleeping At Last
  • Make You Feel My Love - Adele
  • Nervous - Gavin James
Min, why isn't there any Indonesian songs in both of your playlists?!
There are some Indonesian songs actually in both of my playlists. I just haven't mentioned them, yet. The ones I listen to are pretty random and popular back in the 2000s. So, it's kind of embarrassing to share. But here are some of the Indonesian songs I find soothing to listen to:
  • Sempurna - Andra & The Backbone
  • Sedari Dulu - Tompi
  • Ruang Sendiri - Tulus
  • Bimbang - Melly Goeslow
  • Perahu Kertas - Maudy Ayunda
  • Hebat - Tangga
  • Akhir Cerita Cinta - Glenn Fredly
  • Lebih Indah - Adera
  • Andai Dia Tahu - Kahitna
  • LDR - Raisa
  • Tak Pernah Padam - Sandhy Sandoro
I also follow Banda Neira even though they are no longer a duo. The songs are kind of in the same genre and style with Sleeping At Last, very poetic and emotional, and deep in meanings. Just too bad Banda Neira is no longer around.

To be honest, I don't follow any Bieber related playlist because I go old school with him. I still have the My World, My World 2.0, Under The Mistletoe, and Believe albums somewhere in the house. I guess for me, when it comes to Justin Bieber, I always want it to be nostalgic. Hence, the more old school stuffs. Hahaha... But I do include some of his songs in HANAN, the ones that I consider as my favorites. So, no worries, Biebs. I've got you like Hailey does. ((don't mind me, I totally support the two very much))

The point that I'd like to address through this post is that music helps. More or less. It is indeed an escape of some sort. A lot of these songs are playing roles as my spokesperson during tough times and even happy times. I've survived a couple of heartbreaks in the past two years during college. And these songs, along with intense prayers and cryings before bed, have helped me a lot on how to stay strong. And yes, it does somehow encourage me to care more about my state of mind instead of dwelling in the pains and heartbreaks. So, yeah... I consider music as a method of loving oneself, in this case my very own self.

Some may find music more stressful. The lyrics are often more depressing than curing. Well, for those of you who relate to this type of feeling, I suggest you to take it easy on your set of songs. Don't stress yourself out with the choices of songs you listen to because it can either cure or kill you. However, if you find hard rock or heavy metal helping, then go ahead. I mean, there are actually no limits to the music you want to listen to. I just think that if they bring more harm than good, then it's better to be careful with your song choices.

Anyway...

I guess, loving yourself can be realized into many methods, including listening to your favorite music. Just remember that the mind needs loving as much as the body does. So, pay attention to them.
Life is full of sweet mistakes and love is an honest one to make. Time leaves no fruit on the tree. But you're gonna live forever in me. -John Mayer.
